| Lontano - for four flutes begins with all flutes sounding a theme in homophonic texture. The middle section features short, rising motifs leading to the climax of the piece as the music returns to restate the theme from the beginning of the work. The theme is restated one final time but is marked "very soft, with reflection" as if the music has been adorned with nostalgia. |
